What is my IP address?

See the public address this server received for your current connection, plus its IP version, approximate network location, organization and ASN. No account or installation is required.

The location is a database estimate for the network address, not GPS or a street address. A VPN or proxy shows its exit address here.

Direct answer

How to find your IP address

The address in the card above is the public IP used for this request. Copy it when a support agent, firewall rule, allow-list or VPN test asks for your public address. If you need the private address inside your Wi-Fi or office network, use your device settings instead.

Check a VPN

Note this address, connect the VPN, reload, and compare. The new result should normally be the VPN exit address.

Troubleshoot access

Use the public result for an external allow-list. A private address such as 192.168.1.20 is not the same value.

Understand the result

Read public vs private IP and static vs dynamic IP.

Network lookup tools

IP location

Look up a globally routable IPv4 or IPv6 address in the locally installed GeoLite2 City and ASN databases.

DNS lookup

Query A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, NS or TXT records with a validated name and a ten-second command timeout.

IP/domain WHOIS

Retrieve public registration text for a public IP address or domain. Results depend on the upstream registry.

IP address guide

Understand what the address identifies, why websites can see it, and what the location estimate cannot prove.

What this result does—and does not—show

FieldWhat it meansImportant limit
Public IPThe source address delivered to this server after the trusted reverse proxy.A VPN, proxy or carrier NAT can make many users appear under another or shared address.
IPv4 / IPv6The protocol version of this request's source address. This page does not claim to test both protocol paths independently.
Organization / ASNThe network record associated with the IP range in the local ASN database. It may name a carrier, host or VPN provider rather than the subscriber.
LocationAn approximate GeoLite2 mapping for the network address. It is not GPS and must not be used to identify an address or household.

Public IP questions

How do I find my public IP address?

Open this page and read the result card. It shows the source address received for the current HTTPS connection.

Why is this IP different from the one in my device settings?

Device settings often show a private address inside the local network. A router, carrier-grade NAT gateway, workplace proxy or VPN can present another address to websites.

Does an IP address reveal my precise location?

No. IP geolocation is an estimate for a network address and must not be used to identify a household or street address. VPNs, mobile networks and routing can move the estimate.

Can one page detect both my IPv4 and IPv6 addresses?

This page reports the one address used for this request. Detecting both independently requires separate version-specific endpoints, so WhatIsMyIP.bz does not label an untested path as detected.

Sources and data boundary
